Our Brooklyn Heights Law Firm is looking for a new Clerical Specialist on our New Accounts Team! We're easy to commute to and from, only 10 minutes south of Downtown Cleveland. Our Clerical Specialists process a high volume of bankruptcy lists for clients and determine appropriate next steps while adhering to individual client standards. They also manually set up New Accounts and run reports firm-wide. We offer classroom and hands-on training to ensure that you have exactly what you need to succeed here on our team.   • Sets up accounts while reviewing account documents to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance with established department and firm procedures.
  • Reviews files, mail and standard legal documents to gather information and locate missing or incomplete records.
  • Maintains current knowledge of general legal procedures, deadlines and procedures for appropriate documents, office equipment, and software in general use in the legal community.
  • Adjust accounts balances and verified the interest start date from the clients and court. Recalculates interest.
  • Obtains missing and/or updated information via telephone, internet, mail, and fax.
  • Performs computer data entry to update account files.
  • Photocopies, scans and faxes documents.
  • Reviews contracts, credit applications, and agreements to determine debtor liability.
  • Forwards files for further action, ensuring all required procedures and paperwork are accurate.
  • Reviews and follows-up on post judgment executions.
  • Reopens and closes accounts according to established procedures.
  • Answers telephone, directs calls, and conveys messages and assists with other clerical duties, as assigned.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 6 months of administrative, customer service, or retail work experience
  • Ability to arrange items in alphanumeric or subject order
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
  • Must type a minimum of 35 wpm with accuracy
  • Basic knowledge of office practices and procedures, computer operation, and Microsoft Excel
